Course Description
This is a 3-credit seminar that relies heavily on participation, analytical discussions, projects and student presentations. It is taught every year out of the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture.

Course Objective

  1. To heighten the students’ awareness of the different aspects of social justice in America and other parts of the world.
  2. To critically examine factors that influence social participation, exclusion, power or oppression;
  3. To develop a theoretical framework, a common language, a knowledge base, and a repertoire of presentation skills that will allow them to talk about these issues;
  4. To provide a context for students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for promoting social equality using identity development, student development and social justice theories.
