First year students must complete an application process to participate in IDEAAL. Applicants must demonstrate leadership qualities as well as an interest in the Asian American community and issues.

Upperclassmen with a 2.5 GPR or above may apply to be IDEAAL Mentors. Prospective mentors must demonstrate leadership experience as well as the ability and desire to develop and support young student leaders.
