Leadership Institute
Program: African American Student Leadership Institute (AASLI)
Purpose:
Started in 2002, AASLI is a semester-long program for sophomores
meeting cultural balancing needs from the social, historical,
racial, self-acceptance, self-concept, and integration contexts.
Through collaboration with the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
and Department of Greek Life, AASLI offers developmental education
and experiential learning through program development, community
service activities, role modeling, academic enhancement, leadership
development, scholarship opportunities and social networking. AASLI
has a vision to aid students in becoming theoretically
knowledgeable, well rounded leaders possessing the tangible skills
to model community involvement, effective problem solving
strategies, global accountability, academic excellence, and social
consciousness.
Members:
Each AASLI Class consists of a Coordinating Board (which could be
considered officers) and Participants ranging from 40 to 45. The
