Welcome to Outside the Box: A Diversity Training Retreat

Saturday October 24, 2009
Texas A&M University College Station, TX

This retreat on Saturday, October 24th is designed to engage our key student leaders interested in making their organizations more inclusive. Diversity education specialists, corporate representatives, and student facilitators from the Aggies to Aggies (A2A) diversity educators will engage participants in discussions about the importance of managing diversity in the workplace. Participants will also learn how multicultural competence begins to be acquired during student organization leadership. After various activities, dialogues, and sharing, participants will return to their organizations with an action plan tailored specifically to their organizations’ needs. This retreat is the second of its kind and is sure to be highly interactive and fun!

"Here at The Container Store, we look for employees who can relate to the diverse backgrounds and life experiences of our customer base, which ultimately results in an extremely diverse workforce.  In fact, we use real employees in our advertisements and many of our recruiting and marketing materials in order to reflect that diverse employee base throughout the company."

--A. Robertson, Public Relations Director for The Container Store

IMPORTANT NOTE

**Because this is a working retreat, student participants must be executive officers of recognized student organizations. We recommend officers in charge of recruiting, membership, and marketing to represent their organizations. Each organization must register a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 officers to ensure room for other organizations to participate.
