Diversity Modules in the Disciplines
The diversity modules explore the impact of culture in the practice of specific disciplines, and the importance of cross cultural competence for professionals in various academic fields to better understand and serve different populations. These modules can vary in duration from one to three class periods. The modules can be tailored to suit the specific needs of the faculty who request them.
At the end of the lecture series, students were able to:
- Develop a framework to understand cultural differences
- Identify the impact of culture in their discipline
- Begin to develop strategies to respond appropriately to cultural differences
- Articulate the connection between the workshops and the content of their class, and between the workshops and their professional practice.
