The Department of Multicultural Services will host its new Student Success & Multicultural Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. This ceremony is an expansion of the Student Success Banquet, an event that recognized graduating department student leaders for their academic achievement and contributions to the campus community.
In coordination with three Cultural Community organizations, including Asian Presidents’ Council, Black Student Alliance Council, and Hispanic President’s Council, the ceremony will celebrate the successes of Texas A&M’s Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA), Black/African American, and Hispanic/Latinx/a/o students.
“This event will formally address a growing student interest, align campus initiatives with peer institutions,” said Dr. Tonya Driver, Director of the Department of Multicultural Services. “It will also serve to complement our DMS Welcome Social event we hold each year for incoming Aggies and celebrate the ultimate goal of our campus’ Student Success Initiative.”
During the ceremony, undergraduate and graduate students graduating in May, August, or December of 2019, will be presented with recognition items from their chosen cultural community. The event will also celebrate the cultures of graduates, honor their families, and showcase the accomplishments of students.
The Student Success & Multicultural Graduation will be held in the Bethancourt Ballroom (MSC 2300). Registration for the event is currently open and will close on Friday, April 12. Additional information can be found on the event page.
