The DMS Welcome Social is our signature kickoff event at the beginning of each semester and has been connecting Aggies for more than 20 years. It’s more than just a meet-and-greet — it’s an intentional space designed to help students start strong, feel supported, and know they belong at Texas A&M.  

Students describe the Welcome Social as a place where friendships take root, encouragement is offered, and networks of support begin to form. The event reinforces the importance of beginning the semester with energy, connection, and direction.

Students who attend the Welcome Social can:

• Meet peers who are also beginning or continuing their Aggie journey.
• Connect with DMS staff who serve as Campus Connectors and are available throughout the year for guidance, encouragement, and resource navigation.
• Learn about upcoming programs such as Aggie Spirit Tours, Explorations, and Empower Hours that provide additional opportunities for growth.
• Get introduced to campus resources in a relaxed, approachable way.
• Enjoy fun activities, food, and conversation that make it easy to build friendships and community.

The event is intentionally facilitated to ensure students walk away with more than just a fun experience. They leave with:

• A sense of grounding at the start of the semester.
• New connections with peers who may become part of their support network.
• Awareness of resources that will help them navigate challenges and opportunities.
• The confidence that they are not starting their journey alone.

It is both a celebration and a stepping stone designed to make the transition into Aggieland smoother, to reinforce the importance of intentional connection and branching outside your comfort zone, and to spark meaningful engagement that carries students into the beginning of the semester.
