Transition & Community Engagement Collaborations

Student success and helping students achieve their goals are priority for the department.  Through a social integration approach, DMS partners with colleges, schools, and other stakeholders to support Texas A&M University’s mission, plans, and initiatives designed to help students successfully matriculate, transition, persist, and graduate from Texas A&M and demonstrate competencies as outlined by the undergraduate learning outcomes and career readiness.  Staff foster collaborative relationships across campus to support students as they navigate the rigors of their degree plan, explore involvement opportunities, develop into leaders, and emerge as the next generation of professionals.  Staff also assist with academic and individual aspirations by providing academic and counseling referrals, making connections, and providing one-on-one coaching and personalized attention.

DMS collaborations contribute efforts:

  • To provide meaningful connections to incoming students as they transition to campus life.
  • To impact students’ emotional, mental, and psychological needs and develop personal agency and self-efficacy.
  • To grow students’ self-awareness, capacities to work productively in groups, and engage in social interaction with others.
  • To identify and support efforts associated with internal and external stakeholders.
