Steven Anderson, a beloved DMS affiliated leader and Aggie, was laid to rest Saturday, April 18. Steven passed away on April 3, following a long health battle that he fought with all he had.

Steven was born and raised in the Fifth Ward District outside of Downtown Houston. He began his collegiate career at Texas A&M in 2016, majoring in mass communication, after graduating at the top of his class from Phillis Wheatley High School. DMS was happy to welcome him to Excellence uniting Culture, Leadership and Education (ExCEL) in August of 2016 and take part in his connection to the campus community.

Steven was a unique and genuine person with a strong interest in writing, poetry, and passion for social justice. During his time at Texas A&M, he served in numerous DMS organizations and programs including ExCEL, Aggie Black Male Connection (ABMC), and the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC). He also left a legacy as a member and very high contributor to other Texas A&M student organizations and initiatives.

Words cannot express the loss of Steven to this world. We can only hope every person he touched always remembers and values each of their interactions with him as pointed and purposeful.

Steven was known by his friends, family, mentors, and mentees as a genuine, kind-hearted and charismatic individual. Throughout his health battle, his loved ones acknowledged his high spirits and ceaseless willingness to live life to the fullest.

Steven leaves behind an ever-supporting group of Aggie family, friends, and community among so many others. Rest well Steven and thank you.
